about

all songs by The Channel except "Black", written by Will Oldham.

To be personalized or depersonalized...Benefits can be reaped from both. Frightening at first, depersonalization will be the longer lasting of the two and is ultimately more fruitful. I used to be scared at its onset and all throughout its holding and I tried to run away from it, but I'm getting older now and I guess I've gained a tidbit of wisdom and while I don't fully embrace it yet, I don't deny its purpose. Like an opaque nightmare, you will see life through a hazy lens. Objects will feel foreign to your hands. People will become distant to your concentrations. Conversations and occurrences will be an hour or so away. yea, though sometimes the memory falters, depersonalization allows the tank to remain in tact. I haven't seen the she-monster in what seems like a few months now. O, I will occasionally feel its shadow but nothing like the early years. So, unbeknownst to me, we did an effective job at making Depersonalization Background Music, if you're ever in its bind or perhaps you've grown out of its bind and into its embrace and perhaps you've never met her at all. If you have ever met her, been under her spell, it is likely you will sense her presense in hte likes of "water", as it begins to cover you, look to the right and left - I think I can pinpoint exactly where she lies. She's in those swirling harmonies around your head.

about

The Channel Austin, Texas

The Channel sound is a mix of psychedelic, pop and western tones. This is very much a family band, and the five primary members share songwriting duties and take the lead on their respective tunes. Their albums have all received national praise and college radio airplay, but their relative reclusiveness has kept the band very much under the radar while developing a strong cult following. ... more
